THREE HUNDRED SIXY-SIX
Three hundred sixty-six kilometres is the distance between Siem Reap, Cambodia and Bangkok, Thailand - two places connected by an 8-hour bus ride.
During those 8 hours (it was actually 10), I remained awake. Looking out of the bus window has gotten me preoccupied. I was engrossed. The vast, geographical space of the northwestern Khmer fascinated me. The people I saw on the road and in the fields, intrigued me. A couple of week’s worth of Cambodia was enough for my mind to run unrestrained. From the region’s changing landscape to the unexploded landmines scattered in the fields up until today. I wasn't able sleep. I wanted to get out of the bus. To explore. I didn’t, but my mind did.
Three Hundred Sixty-Six is a visual documentation of the 10-hour bus ride from Siem Reap to Bangkok, of what I saw in-between, and the things I thought to myself.
