Maverick Asio (b. 1991) is an independent visual storyteller, documentary photographer, and a biologist who is passionate in creating images, visually narrating observations of people, landscape, and culture.

He completed his bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Queensland, Australia, and Diploma in Molecular Biotechnology from Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore. His earlier photographic works comprised of visual documentation of his scientific research studies, of people he met, and places he found himself at.

In 2019, he obtained a post-graduate diploma in visual journalism from the Asian Center for Journalism, Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines. Photographs that drives narrative and resonate with emotions is what motivates him in his constant creation of images.
