Born in Manila, raised in Singapore.
Maverick Asio (b. 1991) is an independent photographer and a biologist who is passionate in creating photographs to document stories of people and nature. He is currently dabbling personal documentary photography works which tackles life matters, socio-environmental issues, and vanishing local culture and traditions brought by habit, as well as corporate photography and videography. His photographs has been published by various news outlets such as of CNN, CNBC, New York Magazine, The Verge, Yahoo News!, and many more (see tearsheet)
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2014, and a postgraduate diploma in Visual Journalism from the Asian Center for Journalism, Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines in 2019.
Maverick also enjoys being in the outdoors, bashing through off-trails, and walking in circles around the streets of the Southeast.
